Steel Heart

What is Steel Heart about (Plot Synopsis)?

Stone is a gifted hacker who has spent years safely sealed inside a surveillance van, her world reduced to screens, code, and the anxious voice of her partner Bailey. Their mission is to track Moven, Europe's most elusive arms dealer, who has finally surfaced after three years in hiding. But when the system crashes and remote access is severed, the only way in is through a security chief's phone — and that means Stone must step out of the van and into the field for the first time. Bailey protests; Stone insists. Three meters is all the distance she needs, but three meters in a room full of predators may as well be a mile. Inside the casino, Stone is a stranger in a foreign element, clutching a champagne glass like a shield and pretending to understand the game of twenty-one. Bailey guides her through the crowd while she wrestles with her own nerves, her chess-club instincts, and the terrifying proximity of danger. When she finally breaches the security chief's device, the team discovers something far worse than an arms deal: a live betting operation wagering on real-time military casualties, with American Navy teams on the board and encrypted military feeds being decoded for profit. The stakes are no longer about one dealer's capture — they are about blood sold as entertainment. As Moven slips through corridors and security closes in, Stone finds herself running point in a world she was never trained for, her voice steady in Bailey's ear even as her hands shake. The mission demands she become the field agent she never wanted to be, and every step away from the van pulls her deeper into a game where the house always wins — unless she can rewrite the odds.
