Beneath the Vows - Episode 3

What is Beneath the Vows — Episode 3 about (Plot Synopsis)?

At a glittering masquerade ball, a young woman named Amelia finds herself alone with Vincent, a boy from a world far above her own. She confesses she almost didn't come, but gossip won't dictate her choices. He admits he waited, almost left, and then asks if they might start over. She agrees, and for a moment, the music and the masks make everything feel possible. But the academy's halls are not so forgiving. Vincent's mother, cold and calculating, presents Amelia with a dress reserved for the crown and sneers that it belongs on someone of better breeding. She calls Amelia 'the Cinderella' and warns Vincent to spend his time with Harrington's daughter instead. Humiliated, Amelia tries to leave, but Vincent sends rare ingredients to her dorm—a gesture that only fuels the rumor mill. Whispers spread that Blackwood is playing with the penniless girl, that she's living off his name. Amelia confronts Vincent, accusing him of sending the ingredients to the academy gates for everyone to laugh at her. He insists he didn't know, but she is done. 'We're too different,' she says. 'Let's end this.' Yet the Royal Cooking Competition looms, and Amelia is chosen as the academy's representative. The theme is peaches, and her mind is blank. Her father, a humble baker, offers wisdom: a dessert with a hard sugar shell and soft milk pudding inside reminds him of his younger self—hard-headed, hiding behind a shiny exterior. 'The hardest things are often the first to break,' he says. 'It's what's inside that counts.' As Amelia prepares to face the queen and a room full of sneering classmates, she must decide whether to shield herself in sugar or let her true self be tasted.
